Jasonville Chevy Shoppers Get Your Tech On In The 2018 Chevrolet Malibu

The 2018 Chevrolet Malibu is a midsize sedan that reminds the world sedans don’t have to be boring. The Malibu delivers an outstanding ride and superb handling, with a spacious cabin and seats that are roomy and comfortable. Jacksonville Chevrolet shoppers appreciate the Malibu’s technology and safety features, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control and automatic parking assist.

The Malibu seats five passengers and is available in L, LS, 1LT and Premier trim levels. Chevrolet also offers a hybrid model, which we won’t cover in this review. All trims get standard front-wheel drive. The L, LS and 1LT are equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that produces 160 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 27 mpg city/36 mpg highway.*

Under the hood of the Premier trim is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that makes 250 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of twist, matched to a new nine-speed automatic gearbox. Fuel economy is rated at 22 mpg city/33 mpg highway.

Automotive reviewers are upbeat about the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, with The Car Connection writing: “A solid effort, the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu offers plenty of compelling reasons to lure customers into showrooms. ... With the Malibu, Chevy offers tidy sheet metal with some lovely curves that cloak a large passenger cabin.”

The beautiful interior features eye-catching cloth upholstery, with optional leather upholstery. Other available features include power-adjustable front seats, ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel. The Malibu’s spacious cabin has plenty of legroom to allow front and rear passengers to stretch their legs. There’s ample room in the trunk, too, with 15.8 cubic feet of cargo space to fill up with groceries, items from the local home supply store or just about anything else you’ll need to transport. The Malibu’s 60/40 split-folding rear seats make it easy to take along long objects that ordinarily wouldn’t fit in a trunk. Folding down the seats is easy, thanks to release handles in the trunk.

Optional technology features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4G LTE Wi-Fi and Chevrolet MyLink. Another notable option is Teen Driver, which helps keep younger drivers safe when they’re behind the wheel. Teen Driver lets parents set the top speed of the vehicle, limit the maximum volume of the stereo system, and mute the volume if front seat passengers aren’t wearing their seatbelts. In addition, Teen Driver can provide a report that details how the car was driven.

The higher trim levels have available driver assist features, including front automatic braking, an electronic parking brake, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot warning and automatic parking assist.

The IIHS listed the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu as a Top Safety Pick model, with the highest score of Good in all crash tests. The NHTSA gave the Malibu it’s top score of five stars overall.
