New Bern Chevrolet Shoppers - First Look At The 2019 Chevy Colorado
Midsize trucks are becoming increasingly popular with American consumers at the moment, and the Chevrolet Colorado is a popular midsize pickup that you’ll find at a dealership like the New Bern Chevrolet dealer. Whether you’re looking for a hardworking work vehicle, a comfortable urban runabout, a versatile family hauler or just a cool truck, the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado has a model for every buyer.
The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado may not have the towing and hauling capability of a full-size Silverado, but it seats up to five people in comfort and has the versatility of a truck bed, along with excellent towing capability. According to New Bern Chevy, there are five different trim levels: Base, WT, LT, Z71 and ZR2. There are eleven exterior colors, eight wheel designs, two cabs and eight interiors to choose from in the Colorado lineup.
Extended cab models other than the ZR2 come standard with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine under the hood. This unit puts out 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque and is available with a manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Those who want a V6 can choose the optional 3.6-liter V6 engine, which develops a healthy 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. There’s another, more fuel-efficient alternative for the Colorado, a 2.8-liter Duramax four-cylinder turbodiesel that’s an option for the LT, Z71, and ZR2 models. This powerplant develops up to 186 hp and a very capable 369 lb-ft of torque.
Apart from the ZR2, all models come with standard rear-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive as an available option. An eight-speed automatic transmission is another option for all but the Base Colorado, and it's standard equipment in the ZR2.
The most basic version of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado is primarily designed as a work truck, but it does have more than just the most basic levels of standard equipment. Standard features include power windows and locks, a four-way power driver’s seat, air conditioning, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that's Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible.
Most retail buyers will probably go for the WT trim. The WT adds to the Base specification with features such as alloy wheels and body-color exterior trim The WT trim opens up a number of options that aren’t available for the Base Colorado.
A Base Colorado with the 2.5-liter inline-four gets great fuel economy of 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.* The most frugal option is a rear-wheel drive Colorado with the turbodiesel which then manages a very impressive 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.
Every version of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado comes standard with six airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control and an HD rearview camera. From the LT trim and higher, more advanced high-tech safety features are available, such as forward collision and lane-departure warning.
