Off-Roading Goes Rogue: The 2027 Chevy Tahoe Z71 Updates & Features
The family-friendly Chevy Tahoe has proved its versatility time and time again, delivering a spacious cabin, credible off-road prowess, and towing capability that would make even the most daring pickups shudder.
Moving into 2027, the Tahoe is largely unchanged. That’s right–unfortunately, a 2027 Chevy Tahoe redesign will be put off another year, with the most noteworthy changes for the upcoming model happening within the SUV’s packages and trims.
The Sun and Tow Package, now including a trailering camera system, will be bundled with the Max Trailering package on higher trims, and the Technology and Entertainment package is now exclusive to the High Country model.
But the real changes come in the Tahoe’s off-road model: the Z71.

Upgrades & Changes to the Z71 Off-Road Package
One of the biggest changes to arrive for the Z71 Off-Road package actually happened earlier this year.
Made in May 2026 but implemented on the remaining 2026 production models, the Z71 Off-Road package no longer includes the Rear Seat Media System. This entertainment system turned your Tahoe’s back row into a mobile movie theater, featuring dual 12.6-inch diagonal HD LCD touchscreens with HDMI inputs, USB-C inputs, and two pairs of wireless Bluetooth headphones.
For 2027, the Rear Seat Media System will be offered as a standalone option, but you still need to pay for the Z71 Off-Road Package to get it. And if that didn’t hurt enough, the rear-seat tech will no longer include wireless Bluetooth headphones.
This update is being implemented on the Chevy Suburban and Tahoe models for 2027.
Additional changes for the Z71 Chevy Tahoe in 2027 will include:
- Available 20-inch High Gloss Black wheels
- Added black wheel locks
- Available mirror caps (previously offered on the RST Dark Essentials Package)
Looking Back on the 2026 Chevy Tahoe Z71
The 2026 Chevy Tahoe Z71 provided the perfect blend of off-road power and family-friendly features, and the 2027 trim carries that forward.
The Z71 allows you to navigate life off the beaten path with confidence, with Hill Descent Control letting you descend hills with ease and an Autotrac 2-speed transfer case that lets you switch between drive modes to keep your vehicle’s wheels in time with the changing terrain.
Other features of the Z71 include:
- Aluminum skid plate
- Red recovery hooks
- Black tubular assist steps
- High approach angle front fascia
- Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension
- Blind Zone steering assist with trailering
- Extra-capacity cooling system
- Electronic limited-slip differential
- And so much more!
